Librarian by day, just postet this very interesting post, about the networked student, and I just wanted to share it with you all.

Serendipity

On my blog-round today I read this article. Very interesting. I have often read about Lifehacker, no. 5 on the list, but have never gone there. Today was the day and my eye immediately fastened on this article, which in turn of course led to this article. And naturally I had to read the other list as well. I can honestly say that some of those phrases I haven't used. But most of them I have. However, not "talk the talk, walk the walk". That really is an awful expression!

I promise to try and avoid each and every one of them in my paper. What about you?

Lets go bloghunting!

I have chosen 3 blogs to follow, even though Farkas been mentioned earlier I do mention her again. After been searching around for a while I went to ALA:s homepage. Thought they would have some great stuff about library 2.0 or at least some good blogs. But I was disappointed. There were blogs, but not many wrote about web 2.0 or library 2.0. There probably are many good blogs there though, and they have a nice own kind of RSS-feed that collects all their blogs in one page.

At least I found 2 other blogs that was interesting. First off is ALA Techsource And I found it sad that they don’t blog under ALA:s blog list. But they have some fun new tech-stuff and I love the “fun” angle on library and technology. The other blog is written by a system librarian and assistant professor Aaron, Aaron the librarian. He is fun, and he writes in a really good way that appeals to me.

It seems that many blogs out there are very good written and there are some spirits in them, but the lack of good categories (if any) starts to annoy me a bit. Would be nice if there was a self-tagging program that did all the tagging for the writer and put it in categories for them. Yeye, I know. Who would set the terms for those categories and so on, but it sure would help me stop getting annoyed of lack of taggs ;-)

As a RSS-thingy, I use Google reader. I did use the one in my browser before, but I find it better to have it on the webb.

Library 2.0 and RSS

I will leave my status as a lurker and try to contribute to this course blog. I have not been af frequent reader or contributor to blogs, maybe that will chance? I have looked into some of your recommendations and there are several blogs I would like to explore further. My first recommendation is Libraryweb chick created by a librarien named Karen Coombs. The content seems relevant and interesting and the blog has a good layout, which is also important to me. Healthlibrary-web 2.0 Is a blog (It calls itself a blog) about web 2.0 and how it can be used by health professionals, for example how wikis are used in health science libraries. The blog resembles an ordinary website in many ways. But it is possible to comment on the different issues. I think it is an interesting collection of links to articles about wikis, blogs etc. for health professionals.
Ups, I forgot about the RSS reader, I use Bloglines.

It has been a very long search for blogs, and it is not because it is hard to find library blogs, there are too many! It is a jungle out there.

The rss reader
I started using igoogle, but soon it became too messy, so now I only use igoogle to follow my friends blogs. Blogs that I use in school and at work I follow in google reader.

The blogs
The first blog is Steven's Lighthouse, also mentioned by Néné.

The second one is iLibrarian, it has a post about Twitter, and allthough, some people in the class find it hard to use, including my self, I'm sure Twitter is going to be the next big thing...maybe.

I'm very much in to danish libraries, I love them! So in my search for blogs, I have tried to find a danish blog in english, but have not succeded.
But I got a good tip from a colleague of mine. And with the talk about libraries at the beach last time in class, I would like to recommend this blog called Tame the web.

Librarian blogs, RSS

For getting RSS feeds from sites I'm interested in, I use igoogle. I used to have the feeds in Thunderbird but I considered web space to be more handy. I'll soon try Bloglines, seems to be better for organizing feeds from larger number of sites.

Blogs of Librarians writing about library 2.0 I found interesting:

• Phil Bradley's blog , which concerns mainly search technologies and Library 2.0.


• then I found a blog by David Lee King, who is interested in social web and new trends in librarianship.


• Blog by Ellysa Kroski iLibrarian might also bring interesting ideas about Library 2.0.


• Another blog, Library Gang has more contributors from field of our interest.


• I found some more blogs by librarians, who somehow contribute to Library 2.0, for example ShiftedLibrarian Librarytwopointzero

RSS reader and Library 2.0 blogs

I have chosen to subscribe to bloglines.com. I have never used a RSS reader before so I am still exploring what the possibilities are…

The page technorati.com helped me find interesting blogs about library 2.0. The blogs I will follow are these 3 blogs:

M. Farkas’s blog
Maybe too obvious, but she seems like an important and interesting person when it comes to library 2.0

Michael Casey
He is commenting on different library 2.0 issues (and now also on a certain US election…)

What I learned today…
It seems like an interesting site, and it seems to be updated often.

RSS and blogs

I most often use my iGoogle and my blog as a RSS-reader. I also use Google Reader, but I've placed it on my iGoogle.
I'm curious at Bloglines, and want to check it out.

I think it is a blog-jungle, and I don't think I just can find blogs to subscribe. I use serendipity, when I see something interesting I use Del.icio.us or RSS to follow up, and often I can go even further from what I've found. I'm not a very good english-reader, and have to use a lot of time to understand what a blog is about. There are other things I think is more interesting, than searching for blogs in english, but of course I've found 3 :-)

I chose blyberg.net because it seems very professionel, and he has been blogging since august 2005.

Like Néné I'm interested in Mary Ellen Bates - if she is writing about something, it might be worth looking at. I also found links to Phil Bradleys blog many places.

I also found iLibrarian by Ellyssa Kroski. It seems to be interesting as well.

At my blog I've allready had Blog on the Side - Darlene Fichter, as Caroline also linked to, and Sociale teknologier i biblioteker, a danish student from DB who had a course like this, last year.
