Sharing interesting blog contents

Great to see all the good Library 2.0 blogs you have found :-)

With all the interesting things you read on the blogs it would be nice if you all will share some of those interesting things with us on this blog the rest of course :-)

Kristina's blogs to follow

According to the assignment, I have been browsing for library 2.0 blogs to follow, and they are as follows:
  1. Librarian by day because it has Library 2.0 as a main subject, it is personal, I like the tone it is written in.
  2. The annoyed librarian because is is a humorous approach to library and to the things that colour our every-day-life. :o)
  3. The invisible library because it is a personal blog, with both topics of news, his own musings, open source.
I found the two first blogs using bloglines (maybe not directly, but that was the starting point...) and the last one i found using a plain google search "librarian blog".
I use Google reader to view my rss-feeds. :o)

Exercise with RSS and Library 2.0 blogs

As mentioned in class yesterday, the hands-on exercise for next week is about RSS feeds and library 2.0 blogs.

Please make a post on this course blog before noon on Thursday Nov. 13 containing the name of the RSS reader you use (for example. Bloglines.com or Google Reader). Just the name of the RSS reader is enough. No links necessary :-)

Also add links (and short descriptions) to at least 3 different blogs on Library 2.0 topics you will follow through your RSS reader. The Library 2.0 blogs should be in English so the whole class can understand them :-) The blog topics could be about Librarian 2.0, Childrens' Library 2.0, or other (perhaps mixed) Library 2.0 topics.

As part of the exercise you should also use the widget at the upper-right of this course blog to subscribe to new posts and comments from the course blog through your RSS reader.

LibraryThing

Anja won 1 kg of carrots today for having put most books into LibraryThing: 88 books.
Well done! Congratulations again :-)

I've put all our LibraryThing pages into a link list at the right.

Those of you still lacking to complete the course exercise of putting books in LibraryThing, please complete the exercise as soon as possible and add a comment to this posting with a link to your LibraryThing page.

Exercise: blog + LibraryThing

I've just put this message on the course web as well.

For those of you who were not at the lessons last Friday, I gave the class two exercises.

The first exercise is to write a blog post on this course blog.
The blog post should contain some of your favourite web 2.0 sites.

Please feel welcome to use the course blog to share ideas, web sites and other interesting stuff related to the course theme on web 2.0 and library 2.0. Please also use the blog comments to respond to each others' postings :-)

The second exercise is to create a profile page at LibraryThing: http://www.librarything.com
A web site for sharing your personal book shelf with others. We will use this web site to discuss how one can implement library 2.0 features in traditional library catalogs.

It would be great if you can accomplish both exercises before noon tomorrow Wednesday.

Please send me an email (LB@db.dk) with a link to your LibraryThing profile page. The link should be in this shape: http://www.librarything.com/profile/connecto (my LT profile :-)

The person in the class having most books in LibraryThing with tags at noon tomorrow will receive a small gift on Friday ;-)

Lennart's favourite Web 2.0 sites

One of my favourite Web 2.0 sites is LibraryThing: www.librarything.com, where I share my private book shelf (not all of my books yet :-) www.librarything.com/profile/connecto

Another favourite is StumbleUpon: www.stumbleupon.com/about/, where I share some of the web sites I find - sometimes serendipitously stumbled upon :-) connecto2.stumbleupon.com
